Violence in the city: Two friends shot dead, another wounded

A man was found tortured and strangled to death at his residence

KARACHI: Two friends were shot dead and another wounded in a targeted attack in Orangi Town on late on Saturday night. Meanwhile, a man was found strangled to death at his residence while a security guard was killed under mysterious circumstances.

Dataar, Imran and Ismail were travelling in their car in Baloch Goth, Orangi Town, when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire at them and fled. Dataar died on the spot while Imran succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Ismail, who also sustained injuries in the attack, remained admitted at the hospital.

Police officials said that the three men, who hailed from Tando Adam Khan, had come to Karachi to visit their relatives in Baloch Goth and the incident occurred when they were on the way back to their hometown. They claimed that both the deceased had been married twice, adding that the attack could have been motivated by personal enmity. A case has been registered and the bodies were taken to Tando Adam Khan for funeral rites.

Separately, a middle-aged man was found strangled to death at his residence within the limits of the Manghopir police station. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was identified as 50-year-old Raj Wali. Police officials said that they found the body after being informed by the victim's neighbours, adding that the body was wrapped in blanket. They said that he had been tortured by unidentified persons who later strangled him to death, apparently over a monetary dispute. A case has been registered.

Meanwhile, a security guard was shot dead under mysterious circumstances. According to the police, 35-year-old Asadullah was deployed outside a beauty parlour at Tariq Road when the incident occurred. Quoting the initial investigation, they said that the deceased had accidentally shot himself with his own gun.
