LAHORE:
All necessary steps should be taken by police to implement the National Action Plan against terrorism, Operations DIG Haider Ashraf said on Saturday.

He was chairing the monthly review meeting of the city and Saddar division police.

“The last 10 days of Ramazan are very important. All steps should be taken to ensure the security of mosques and imam bargahs. No negligence in this regard will be tolerated,” he said.

He said that there had been a marked decrease in motorcycle and car lifting cases in the past month.

“Each police station should form a special team to arrest proclaimed offenders within the next week. The police stations have been provided new patrolling cars and the equipment they need. This should translate into a reduction in the crime rate,” he said.

City SP Asad Sarfraz Khan, Saddar SP Zahid Nawaz Marwat and the SHOs in the division attended the meeting.

The Gowalmandi, Islampura, Shadara, Shadbagh, Sattukatla, Nawab Town, Hanjarwal and Raiwind SHOs were issued show cause notices for failing to control the crime rate in their respective areas.

The Bhati Gate, Naulakha, Badami Bagh, Misri Shah and Sabzazar SHOs were issued warnings over poor performance.

The Saggian SHO was given a cash prize and a certificate for arresting five proclaimed offenders. The Lorry Adda SHO was commended for recovering a kidnapped child.
