RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has served show-cause notices on its five staffers including a deputy-director and an assistant-director for failing to stop an illegal construction on the High Court Road.

“The illegal market has popped up on a main road and the builder has built it with the connivance of the RDA building control department,” a source in the civic agency said requesting anonymity.

The building control employees have been directed to explain their position within five days as to how the illegal structure was allowed to be constructed.

RDA Building Control Department Director Jameshed Aftab said show-cause notices have been issued to deputy-director Tariq Mayo, assistant-director Sami Ullah Niazi, enforcement in-charge Rana Tariq, building superintendent Aslam Shah and building inspector Raja Arsalan.

“Departmental proceedings will be initiated as soon as we get replies from these employees,” Aftab added.
