LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director in a petition seeking directives for the agency to register a fraud case against four men.

Petitioner Ghulam Bari submitted that the FIA had yet to take action on his complaint against four men who had tricked him into paying Rs330,000.

He identified the suspects as Muhammad Yaqoob, Shafqat Ali, Muhammad Saleem and Mirza Shafique. He said Yaqoob, Ali and Saleem had introduced themselves as Governor’s House staff members and Shafique as a relative of the governor’s secretary.

The petitioner said the suspects had promised to arrange a visa for his son to go to Dubai. However, he said the visa they had provided to him turned out fake.

He said a few months later the suspects had returned Rs150,000 to him. He said he had approached the FIA with a complaint seeking recovery of the remaining amount.

The FIA had yet to take action on his complaint, he added.
