The Islamabad Police on Friday arrested six members of a gang allegedly involved in looting goods trucks.
A Special Investigation Unit (SIU) team headed by SP Ilyas Ahmed busted the gang, said a police official.
The gang members were identified as Jamaluddin, Fazal Malik, Amjad Khan, Aman Ullah, Akmal Khan, Muhammad Ayaz, and Syed Hussain. The police also recovered four 30-bore pistols, one truck and Rs1.5 million from their possession.
“The gang members all hail from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” said the official, adding the gang was involved in looting trucks loaded with flour, cooking oil and other items. The suspects confessed to looting 38 trucks last year in the jurisdictions of Koral, Sihala, Nilor, Tarnol and Rawat police stations, the official said.
Investigation revealed the gang would usually target trucks on GT Road. The suspects will be produced in a court after completion of initial investigation, the official said.
