Collaboration: Pakistan, ADB discuss partnership
Energy and infrastructure projects on govt’s priority list, says Dar
ISLAMABAD:
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been a great development partner of Pakistan by designing country-specific programmes, said Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday.
“In the current scenario, energy and infrastructure development are the top most priorities of the government and Pakistan looks forward to working with ADB on different projects of national importance,” he added, while speaking at a meeting with ADB Country Director Werner Liepach.
The ADB official shared his views with Dar, saying there were positive feelings for Pakistan within the ADB ranks and appreciation for its economic turnaround achieved under the present government.
He further informed finance minister that the ADB was ready to launch the Disaster Relief Fund as the preparatory work has been completed, and it was ready to mobilise other donors and development partners to make their contributions available for the fund.
He said that the ADB acknowledged the reforms Pakistan had introduced in its energy sector.
“We are looking forward to financing many important infrastructure projects in Pakistan like M4, E35, N50 and N70 as soon as the preparatory work is completed on these projects,” Liepach told the minister.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Finance Ministry, Economic Affairs Division and Asian Development Bank.
