Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir president passes away
Khan was elected the president of AJK four times and also as prime minister and leader of the opposition AJK

Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) , Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, passed away on Friday, Express News reported.
Born in Dhirkot district on April 04 1924, Khan attained secondary education from the University of Punjab after which he joined the British Indian Army's Engineer Corps.
The 91-year-old Khan, based on his credibility and knowledge was elected the president of AJK four times and also as prime minister and leader of the opposition AJK.

Further, Khan was also the supreme leader of the AJK Muslim Conference and played a vital role in 1975 as the facilitator between Pakistan National Alliance and the government of Pakistan.

According to reports, the AJK government a three-day mourning period during which the AJK flag will fly at half-mast.
Khan was buried at Ghaziabad Dhirkot Bagh on Friday while his funeral prayers were offered in Rawalpindi's Race Course Ground.
