Digitalised collection: SMIU to get a modern library
The 130-year-old library will also have a multi-media room
KARACHI:
Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s (SMIU) Hassanally Effendi Library is to be revamped into a modern library with an updated digitalised system, said SMIU vice-chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh on Monday. The readers will have access to the books through an online cataloguing system, he said at a meeting with the library staff. Dr Shaikh added that a separate website will be developed where information related to new books and journals will be updated through an internal sharing system for the students and the staff. He also said that SMIU will collaborate with national and international libraries to share their learning resources. The 130-year-old library will also have a multi-media room, where students can discuss academic matters in groups.
