Iran to host Pakistan’s cueists next year
Pakistan-Iran bilateral snooker series scheduled for March 2011.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) will hold a bilateral series after the Iran Bowling and Billiards Federation (IBBF) agreed to host the event next March.
The move, to promote snooker in Iran, will see Pakistan send a five-member squad to Tehran as both countries plan to make it a regular feature.
“The IBBF took the initiative and they are inviting us to play in Tehran to motivate their cueists,” the PBSA President Alamgir Shaikh told The Express Tribune. “It is also a good opportunity for our cueists to play against their players.”
Shaikh also said that the host country will fund the event but there will be no prize money on offer.
“There is no prize money involved but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. The IBBF asked us to send them the format of the tournament and they will organise the event. We have also proposed hosting the event in 2012.”
