FAISALABAD:

A man injured in a shooting on June 26 died on Thursday night. His family staged a demonstration in front of Faisalabad Allied Hospital, saying he had been discharged without receiving proper medical aid.

Talking to newsmen, Naseer Habib, a cousin of the deceased, said 45-year-old Khalid, a resident of Ghulam Muhammadabad, had been shot by his rivals on June 26 over a property dispute.

“Khalid was taken to the emergency ward of Allied Hospital,” he said.

He said Khalid had been discharged after doctors cleaned his wound and stitched them up, though his blood pressure was quite low.

“An X-ray showed that a bullet was lodged in his shoulder, but doctors discharged him nonetheless,” he said.

He said on June 30, Khalid’s condition worsened and he was again taken to Allied Hospital where doctors told them that the bullet had caused infection.

He said Khalid died on Thursday night.

Scores of relatives of the deceased chanted slogans against doctors of Allied Hospital and said an inquiry should be conducted.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Allied Hospital Medical Superintendent Rashid Maqbool said he had formed a committee to probe the incident. He said the doctor who had initially discharged him would be taken to task if he was found guilty of negligence.
