The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Inspector General Muhammad Saleem Bhatti has asked officials trained in first aid to respond quickly to road emergencies and help save lives.

Bhatti was addressing the concluding ceremony of a first aid training course for NHMP officials in Islamabad, said a press release.

This was the seventh batch, comprising 24 officials, to graduate from the course.

The motorway police are training its staff, which are often the first ones to respond to road accidents, in a bid to help save lives in case of road emergencies. Hitherto, the police have been relying on rescue services to tend to the injured.

The NHMP chief asked the force to continue serving road users with dedication.
