Garment sector: JICA to provide technical assistance

JICA had previously had helped upgrading the National Textile University Faisalabad

ISLAMABAD: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would provide technical assistance to facilitate the garment sector especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in the field of international marketing practices along with compliance requirement, marketing and product diversification. A meeting in this regard was held on Thursday between JICA and Ministry of Textile Industry of Pakistan to work out parameters for the project of “Skill Development and Market Diversification” for garment industry. The JICA experts would impart training and provide necessary machinery for the institutes. On the occasion, Ueda said that JICA had previously coordinated with the textile sector in 1993 by helping to upgrade the National Textile University Faisalabad. Marwat appreciated JICA’s step and said that this project would help in achieving goals and objectives set forth in the Textile Policy 2014-19.
