Three cops die in attack on checkpoint
QUETTA:
Three policemen were killed when suspected militants opened indiscriminate fire on a police checkpoint in Naseerabad district of Balochistan on Sunday.
Suspected militants also took away the weapons of the dead policemen following the attack on the Rabi Canal checkpoint. They dead were identified as head constable Faiz Muhammad and constables Rashid Ali and Muhammad Siddiq.
Police reached the site and took the bodies to hospital for post-mortem examination. The bodies were later handed over to their relatives for burial.
A spokesperson of the Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Mir Sarbaz Baloch, told journalists of different media organisations in a phone call from an unknown location, that the raid was conducted in revenge for the police raids on Baloch houses in Quetta and the “harassment of hundreds of innocent Baloch”.
Police have registered a case and started investigations.
