Unfair burden: Protest against crush royalty in DI Khan

The protesters said the increment was unacceptable as they could not afford to pay so much

DI KHAN:

Owners and employees of stone-crushing units took to the streets of DI Khan on Thursday to protest against increments in crush royalty. This is a tax paid to the government for the ongoing use of stone-crushing sites.

They blocked Galoti Road and shouted slogans against the provincial government for increasing the royalty by 500%. According to the protesters, the PTI government had previously imposed a tax of Rs10 per tonne. However, the amount has now been increased to Rs60. The protesters said the increment was unacceptable as they could not afford to pay so much.
