PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police School for Explosive Handling and Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology signed an MoU on Thursday.

In a ceremony held at Central Police Office Peshawar, Additional IGP Headquarters Mian Muhammad Asif and Vice Chancellor Dr Salimur Rahman inked the agreement under which both institutions will train police officials jointly.

According to the handout issued, both parties agreed to conduct technical and managerial training sessions simultaneously. Research on explosive materials and technology would also be conducted. The university’s faculty will hold sessions for police officers at the explosive handling school in Nowshera.

Speaking on the occasion, Asif said various training schools are being set up to provide field and task specific expertise to police officials. He said under the MoU, the university will provide academic support in this regard. “It will help enhance the force’s capacity significantly,” he added.

During his address, Rahman said numerous services and achievements of the force in such challenging times were not known to the public. “We want to facilitate the officers who have the mettle to deliver,” he said, terming the agreement a milestone for both the institutions.
