Assaulting a traffic warden: Imran Khan's nephews granted bail
Magistrate orders medical examination of both Abdullah and Azeem following reports that they were tortured in custody

A Lahore judicial magistrate on Thursday granted bail to two nephews of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and ordered for their medical examination to determine if police had tortured them during detention.
Race Course police had produced Azeem and Abdullah before the magistrate at Cantt Court where their counsel filed their bail application.
The counsel for Abdullah and Azeem said the traffic warden Shakeel Ahmed tortured them and later police too joined in while they were held in custody overnight.

He argued that the charges against them in the FIR were bailable; hence they should be granted bail.
The court, while reviewing the case, accepted bail for both suspects against surety bonds worth Rs50,000 each and adjourned the hearing till July 16.
On Wednesday evening, Azeem and Abdullah had been arrested after they allegedly abused, assaulted and threatened a traffic warden, who stopped them for not wearing a seat belt.

The DPO said that an FIR had been lodged against Abdullah and Azeem after they started misbehaving with traffic warden Shakeel.
Shakeel had alleged that despite wearing their seat belt on his request, both Azeem and Abdulllah started misbehaving with him, abused him and later manhandled him as well.
Shakeel had to call in other wardens in the area, who then took the two men to the Race Course police station where the accused Azeem and Abdullah, residents of Zaman Park – the same locality where the PTI chairman lives – told the station police that “Imran Khan is their maternal uncle”.
The DPO said at the same time the accused changed their statement, claiming that “Imran Khan is their paternal uncle”.
