Notices Issued: Petition against taxes on vehicles
He said taxes were being continuously placed on vehicles after they had been purchased
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the attorney general and the Punjab advocate general on a petition challenging the imposition of new taxes on vehicles. Advocate Azhar Siddique, the petitioner, said that the government had imposed a myriad of taxes including a registration fee on vehicles. He said taxes were being continuously placed on vehicles after they had been purchased. Siddique said the government had been spending the monies raised by levying the taxes on its own protocol in place of the people’s welfare. Siddique said the government had also failed to ensure the provision of free medicines at hospitals and had given an advert calling for donations for Rescue-1122.
