KARACHI:
Pakistan Premier Football League’s (PPFL) top-scorer and champions K-Electric’s striker Muhammad Rasool is itching to begin training for the 2016 AFC Cup play-off qualifiers that will begin in Bhutan on August 9.

This will be K-Electric’s first international appearance as a club, and seasoned player Rasool believes that his team will need to make its mark and his personal aim will be to score as many goals as he can.

“It’s special for us because this is K-Electric’s first appearance in an international tournament like this,” Rasool told The Express Tribune. “Earlier, KRL FC brought a good name to the country, but now we are the PPFL champions and I hope we can prove ourselves.”

He added that the club’s training camp will begin at least 20 days before the tournament in Karachi, while the Nigeria duo of Sunday Obiyuni and Wilsom will also join the squad.

K-Electric will open their campaign against hosts Druk United on August 11, while their second fixture will be against the Mongolia’s Khoromkhon FC on August 13.

According to Rasool, he is unaware of the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents in the group. “I haven’t seen any of these teams play before so we really don’t have any idea about their game,” said Rasool. “Currently I’m in Chitral and have been training here for at least two hours a day. Others like Essa Khan are in Chaman and we will all gather in Karachi. Hopefully, we’ll come up with a good strategy before going for play-offs.”
