ISLAMABAD:

The employees of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP) on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against the capital police for what they called their failure to arrest the teenager allegedly involved in the killing of the general secretary of the PCP Employees Union.

Rana Shafique, general secretary of the employees union was killed on Tuesday night allegedly by the son of another employee over a petty issue, in the jurisdiction of the Aabpara police station. The police have yet to make any arrests.

The police said that Shafique was killed by Zaryab Khan, a teenage boy, son of Ghaniur Rehman, who is also an employee of the same institute and resides in the Press Colony in G-7/4.

The police said that the Shafique was supervising some digging work at the colony on the night of the incident, when Ghaniur Rehman reached the spot and raised objection over some petty issue. The matter was being resolved between the two by other residents of the colony, when Zaryab son of Rehman reached the spot and allegedly stabbed Shafique to death with a knife.

On Wednesday, hundreds of union employees blocked the Kashmir Highway against what they called police failure to arrest the culprit.

Intizar Hussain, president PCP Employees Union told The Express Tribune, that the union would continue to hold protests till the alleged culprit was put behind bars.

Muhammad Khan, investigation officer, of the case  said they were trying their best to arrest the alleged culprit.
