PESHAWAR:
The Anti-corruption department on Monday arrested several high-ranking government officials on charges of embezzlement in the purchase of computers.

Those arrested include former local government and rural development secretary Orangzeb, deputy secretary Shakirullah, director Tahira Yasmin Water and Power Development Authority magistrate Samiullah and contractor Manzoor were put behind bars.


Talking to The Express Tribune, circle officer Sikandar Shah said an inquiry in the case was initiated last year after an audit unearthed the corruption.

“The scam involves embezzlement of Rs40.6 million in the purchase of computers carried out in 2012-13,” he said.
