Neelum-jhelum project: 72% of work completed

First unit will start supplying power to the national grid system in 2016

ISLAMABAD:
Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project(NJHP) Managing Director Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Zubair said around 72 % work has already been completed on the ongoing 969MW NJHP and its first unit will start supplying power to the national grid system in 2016. He added that the unit would start generation after every three months. He said the first hydraulic gate has been successfully installed and remaining three gates would be installed in September once water receded. The total cost of the project has risen to Rs274.88 billion after the second revision of the PC-I.
