The government has expedited work on power projects in Ranolia Kohistan, Machi Mardan and Dararkhwar Swat with generation capacity of 55.6 megawatt (MW) that would be completed by December 2015 to provide electricity.
A senior official of the energy and power department of Khyber-Pakhtunkwa said on Monday that three power projects, including Machi mardan (2.6MW), Ranolia Kohistan (17MW) and Dararkhwar Swat (36MW) would be completed by the end of this year.
He said that work on Machi Mardan and Ranolia Kohistan has already completed and they would be inaugurated shortly, adding that work on Darakhwar Swat will be done by December.
The official added that completion of these projects would help provide inexpensive electricity besides irrigating thousands of acres of barren land in the province.
