PESHAWAR:

Police arrested two of the accused in the murder of four sisters on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at Malik Saad Police Lines, SSP Operations Dr Mian Saeed said both the accused, Fazal Qadir and Fazal Hussain, had shot the sisters in cold blood in Hashtnagri over a monetary dispute on Saturday. “The accused took a taxi and fled to Telaband village on the outskirts of the city where they were given shelter by their relatives but the police raided the house and arrested both of them.”

Hussain, who is allegedly a drug dealer, had to pay Rs4 million to Iqbal, the father of the four murdered sisters. Iqbal was acting as a middleman in the purchase of a house between Hussain and the buyer.

According to a police official, Hussain had paid Rs2 million to Iqbal but had to pay the remaining sum. The two had developed differences over the issue.

On Saturday afternoon, the accused came to the house of Iqbal and started beating him. The latter’s daughters came to rescue him but Hussain opened fire on them, killing Ruqia Bibi, Rani Bibi, Nanhi and Farhana Bibi on the spot. Two children of Farhana were also injured in the firing.

The accused managed to escape after the killings.

No one among the neighbours was willing to help the injured out of fear of the accused but someone called Rescue 1122 who took the deceased and the injured to Lady Reading Hospital.
