Islamic banking: NBP to open 100 branches countrywide

The Iftar dinner was hosted by the NBP in honour of journalists of Rawalpindi and Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is planning to open 100 Islamic Banking branches across the country by the end of current year 2015 to cater to the demand of customers for Islamic banking. Speaking at an Iftar dinner here Friday, NBP spokesman Syed Ibne Hassan said that NBP President Syed Iqbal Ashraf was keen to promote Islamic Banking in the country and that was why the bank initiated Aitemaad-Islamic Banking. The Iftar dinner was hosted by the NBP in honour of journalists of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Ibne Hassan said that the Islamic finance industry was the fastest growing segment of the country’s financial services sector.
