Pending inquiries: ‘CDA slow in probing corrupt officials’
The CDA member finance directed the inquiry officers to dispose of pending inquiries within 15 days

A senior member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has expressed his dismay over the slow pace of investigation against officials facing corruption charges.
Member Finance Arbab Sher Bahadur while chairing a meeting noted that out of 162 pending inquiries, investigations into 33 files have so far been, which was far below the benchmark. According to CDA rules and regulations, an inquiry into corruption cases should be completed within 90 days.
The CDA member finance directed the inquiry officers to dispose of pending inquiries within 15 days or face disciplinary action for their incompetence. The inquiry officers told the meeting that that departmental heads were not providing them records.
A source in the CDA said that majority of the inquiry officers were reluctant to carry out investigations to give a safe exit to the corrupt officials.
