Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal said on Thursday that all departments should finalise preparations for monsoon rains.
He said that steps should be taken to secure dilapidated buildings and drain rainwater from low-lying areas.
He said encroachments along drains and nullahs should be removed immediately. Housing Secretary Arshad Mehmood told the meeting that a survey of dilapidated buildings had been completed and a proposal was being drafted for their reconstruction and renovation. He said the occupants had been served notices and they had been asked to vacate the buildings as soon as possible. Local Government Secretary Khalid Masood Chaudhry told the meeting that tehsil municipal administrations had completed all preparations for monsoon rains. He said they had been told to drain rainwater from low laying areas as soon as possible.
