Tomato cultivation: PARC provides training to farmers
We have the potential to enhance tomato production and reduce dependence on imports

The Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) provided training to 80 farmers and master trainers on tomato cultivation, aiming to enhance production in the country in order to reduce dependence on imports. “We have the potential to enhance tomato production and reduce dependence on imports which costs billions of rupees to the national exchequer,” said Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, while addressing the concluding session of the training. He said that the training course will go a long way in promoting tomato cultivation and would not only help make the country self-sufficient in crop production but would also enable it to export the commodity and earn foreign exchange, according to PARC. “However, coordinated efforts are required to expand such training courses at a larger scale to take advantage of the total land resources.”
