RAWALPINDI:
Intelligence agencies have declared security of 62 sensitive mosques and imambargahs of the Rawalpindi region poor and vulnerable. The intelligence agencies have sent a report to the provincial government and the Rawalpindi police, pointing out that due to a security lapse, a serious law and order situation could occur in the city if these mosques continued to ignore security arrangements and the SOPs were not implemented. A police source said that the intelligence agencies have pointed out that around 62 mosques and imambargahs have no metal detractors, walkthrough gates and, in most cases, police personnel remain absent from duty. The security agencies have recommended that police deployments should be increased.
