KARACHI: Before Pakistan faced Sri Lanka in the first rain-thwarted Test match in Galle, left-arm spinner Rangana Herath was being touted to be the talk of the town throughout the series but leggie Yasir Shah stole the limelight with a 7-76 career-best romping of the Islanders on Sunday.

Pakistan went 1-0 up in a three Test series with a 10-wicket victory in less than four days play of the first match.

Yasir, who bagged two wickets in the first innings, made sure he made up for it with some vintage leg-spin bowling on the last day of the Test.

Sri Lanka might have had the psychological advantage of Herath with them but now they are under pressure to break the Yasir code when both team face each other in the second Test at the P Sara Oval on Thursday.

Opening batsman Kaushal Silva, who scored a century in the first innings of the first Test, said that they have planned to unsettle Yasir so that he cannot cause the same damage in the second Test.

"I think when you have a good bowler, you have to put pressure on him to receive loose balls," said Silva.

"As batsmen, we have to put him under pressure, because if we play the same way, he'll keep putting the ball in that same spot. If he does that, it's difficult to play the strokes we want. If we use our feet, we should be able to get singles and twos, and the odd four. We've got to rotate the strike. If we do that, he can't settle down and bowl at one batsman."

The right-hand batsman praised Yasir's accuracy with the ball and said his typical leg-spinner's variations come in handy as well.

"His accuracy is excellent, and the other thing is that he bowls quite quickly," added Silva.

"He's usually in the 85-90kph range, which is faster than most spinners. He does use variations - but he also uses speed well. He bowls his legbreak fast often, and slow sometimes - the googly is the same. He does use the flipper often as well. We have to wrestle the bad balls from him."

shahid | 8 years ago | Reply Now Sri Lanka will find some corrupt ICC (Indian Club of Corrupt) referee to declare Yasir's action fault and disqualify him.. This is what this damn ICC does.. So, Sri Lanka must have a plan to put in place in connivance with HINDUS-tan.
