Some residents of Kashmir Town in Kamalia shaved their heads before coming together at a protest demonstration on Tuesday over prolonged spells of electricity load-shedding in the area.
Nearly a dozen youngsters from the locality shaved their heads before taking to the streets to register their outrage over increased power cuts in the locality. The demonstrators gathered at Kamalia Road and staged a sit-in at the spot, attracting the attention of passers-by courtesy their peculiar getup.
Waseem Akram, one of the protesters, told journalists that prolonged spells of unannounced load-shedding had made residents’ lives miserable.
“We do not have the means to acquire equipment to guarantee adequate supply of power,” he said. Akram said residents had been compelled to launch a shave-head campaign against the government to shame it into providing them with uninterrupted power.
The demonstrators raised slogans against the government while taking a round of Kamalia Road, much to the amusement of onlookers. They vowed to continue their “tind” campaign if the provision of electricity in their locality did not improve in 24 hours.
