Non-Compliance: LHC summons NHA chairman
requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the NHA chairman and other authorities
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the National Highway Authority (NHA) chairman on Tuesday to appear before it and explain why he had not implemented the court’s order regarding the payment of arrears to an NHA employee. Sohail Latif, a computer operator, had filed a contempt of court petition submitting that the authorities were not releasing his arrears due for 11 years. He requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the NHA chairman and other authorities. An NHA deputy director said the matter would be resolved soon. The judge expressed dismay saying that delaying the implementation of court orders amounted to making a mockery of the court.
