The Punjab government has announced 157 skill development programmes for the youth in 14 districts under the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF).
The project has been launched with assistance from the UK-Aid.
PSDF spokesman Usman Khan said six-month courses would be held at the designated institutes in the 14 selected districts: Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, Vehari, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Narowal. Usman said that the PSDF initiated skill development programme in 2011 for four years, targeting to provide training to 135,000 youth.
A total of 86,000 youth have so far been given training.
The Punjab government provides books, uniform and a stipend of Rs1,500 a month to each student.
