Narcotics smuggling: LHC dismisses bail petition
Imran, a resident of Ferozewala, had filed the petition
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday refused to grant bail to a suspect in a drug smuggling case. Imran, a resident of Ferozewala, had filed the petition. On March 23, 2015, police had arrested him after registering an FIR against him. His counsel stated that Imran had been implicated in a false case. He requested the court to grant his client bail. Deputy Prosecutor General Munir Ahmed Sial submitted that the accused was a habitual drug smuggler. “He belongs to a family involved in narcotics smuggling. A total of 114 drug smuggling cases are registered against different members of his family,” Sial said. Justice Sayed Ali Akbar Qureshi remarked that it was apparently the first family that had completed a century of drug related cases. After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed the bail application.
