PESHAWAR:

National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Monday arrested district revenue officer Khalid Saleem Marwat and Abbottabad tehsildar Samiullah for fraudulently allotting 28 kanals of land located in Mauza Shahdhand area of the provincial capital.

The allotment caused a loss of an estimated Rs300 million to the national exchequer.

During the course of enquiry, it was revealed the aforementioned plot was leased out to Anwar Khan for a year.

Fazal Qadeem had filed a lawsuit against Khan, misleading the court that the latter had sold the land to him. Misled by the fraudulent evidence, the court decided the suit ex-parte.

After almost 13 years, Qadeem wrote an application to Marwat to direct the sub-registrar register the plot in his name.

Thus, with the active connivance of all the accused, state land was registered in his name. The detainees will be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for physical remand.
