ISLAMABAD:

At least two labourers were killed in the capital’s outskirts on Monday morning when they were trapped inside a 35-feet deep well after a mound of mud fell on them.

An officer of the Noon Police Station said that Alf Din, 55, and his son Nadeem, 25, who hailed from Pind Begwal Union Council of Islamabad, were busy digging the well in their village when all of a sudden a pile of mud fell on them, trapping them under the debris. According to the police, the two labourers had died by the time they were retrieved from the rubble by rescue teams.

According to the police, the village has a population of over 800 and recently they had decided to dig a well as they have been facing an acute shortage of water. The police official said the Capital Development Authority rescue team reached the spot at around 4pm and retrieved the bodies.
