PESHAWAR:

An arrest warrant has been issued for the general councillor-elect from UC-17 by Assistant Commissioner Mumtaz Khan. The latter and his fellow party members allegedly attacked the AC in Dabgari Saturday night.

According to the police, the AC, who was patrolling the area, had asked Mehmood, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, to clear the road where he was playing Carrom. Mehmood did not make way for the AC who warned the councillor to not block the road.

However, the same happened the next day. Khan asked the councillor to clear the road but the latter and other PTI workers refused to move and allegedly started a brawl with the AC who then ordered Mehmood’s arrest.

“When the police arrested Mehmood, workers of PTI attacked the police and (forcibly) got the councillor released,” said a police official.
