HYDERABAD:
Five people, including a couple and their two children, were killed and 16 others were injured in two separate accidents on Indus Highway in Jamshoro on Sunday.

According to Sann police, a car driver lost control of the moving vehicle and hit a motorcycle, which was carrying the family of four, a donkey cart and a passenger van. Ghulam Murtaza, 35, and his eight-year-old son Amir died before they reached a nearby medical centre in Arazi town. Murtaza's wife, aged between 28 to 30 years whose name could not be known, succumbed to injuries along with her 12-year-old son Noor Nabi at the medical centre.

Ten people in the car and the van as well as two men on the donkey cart were injured. The car was impounded but an FIR has yet to be lodged.


Meanwhile, a woman was killed in a separate accident between a passenger van and a rickshaw on Indus Highway near Thermal Power House in Jamshoro. Two women and four men who were also in the rickshaw were injured. They all belonged to the same family and were taking one of their elderly persons for treatment to Liaquat University Hospital.

The van was carrying passengers from Osta Muhammad in Balochistan to Karachi. According to Jamshoro police, the coach's driver escaped after the accident but the vehicle was impounded but the FIR has yet to be lodged.
