ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Aijaz Ahmad Jakhrani on Friday tendered apology for his statement against the army during Wednesday’s session of the lower house of parliament.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expunged Jakhrani’s remarks from the proceedings and later Jakhrani also withdrew his statement.

While talking to The Express Tribune, the PPP lawmaker said that his statement was in a lighter vein but when he felt that it was not appropriate, he approached the speaker to expunge his words.

He said that he also made a statement publicly that he has great respect for the institution of the Pakistan Army from a sipahi to a general.

“A segment of the media highlighted my statement which was not suitable because I did not own my words and the speaker expunged the statement from the official record,” the lawmaker said.
