Salary bonus in the offing for PCB employees
Zimbabwe’s successful tour of Pakistan a blessing for all staffers
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to grant a salary bonus to all staff members, including those who are not from Lahore, following the national team’s successful home series against Zimbabwe last month.
Zimbabwe became the first Test team to play in Pakistan after 2009 when they played three one-dayers and two T20Is in Lahore.
“Every staffer of the PCB, may they be contractual employees or permanent ones, will get a month’s salary as bonus,” revealed a PCB official while talking to The Express Tribune. “The bonus is not just for the workers of Lahore but also for those in Karachi, Islamabad or Multan.”
It has been learnt that before Ijaz Butt’s arrival as the PCB chairman, the board’s employees used to get two bonuses a year but when Butt came in power, he finished the bonus system.
The policy was then revived by the following PCB chief Zaka Ashraf, who decided to give one bonus a year.
“It’s really good that the board has decided to give the bonus to all the employees, we were expecting this announcement after the series against Zimbabwe,” said a low-wage employee working at the National Stadium of Karachi.
“Though we were not directly involved in the series, but it certainly was a major breakthrough and all the staffers deserve it. For people like me, one additional salary is a blessing in disguise because it’s the month of Ramazan followed by Eidul Fitar and this will certainly alleviate some of our financial burdens.”
