HYDERABAD:

The police on Friday arrested a suspect in the murder case of a suspended Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker, with the   initial investigation suggesting that the killing was motivated by vengeance.

Furqan alias Seema was shot dead outside his residence in Mumtaz Colony on Tuesday. Makki Shah SHO Ghulam Hyder Shahani told The Express Tribune that the deceased had allegedly killed Aqeel Qureshi alias Kala, who was also said to be an expelled MQM worker, in February 2014.

Furqan was nominated in Aqeel's murder case and spent about eight to nine months in prison. He was released in April after the two families reportedly settled the dispute over compensation.

On Friday, SHO Ghulam Hyder Shahani claimed that the police had arrested Aqeel's brother Azeem Qureshi and obtained his physical remand for interrogation for three days.
