ISLAMABAD:

General Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Noman Yousuf said on Friday that there would be no increase in the prices of eatables in the capital during the month of Ramazan. He said that the market will see stability in prices as they will be monitored by the administration.

As many as 35 fair price shops have been established in rural and urban areas of Islamabad and magistrates and assistant commissioners (AC) have been deputed at all police stations to check prices.

Rate lists will be issued daily and prices in markets will be monitored markets. “A strict price control mechanism is available. In case of violations, fines will be imposed,” he added. Some traders increase the prices of commodities at the start of Ramazan, which becomes a major headache for citizens. “Affected persons may approach the office of price control magistrates to lodge a complaint,” ADC said.

“The rise in prices during Ramazan is common. Traders try to make profits by increasing prices, leaving consumers to bear the brunt,” said a housewife.
