Outstanding amount: Sindh govt demands Rs53b from Centre
total receipt frm federal govt during the current fiscal year remains Rs369.13b against the revised estimate of Rs423b
KARACHI:
The Sindh government has again requested the federal government to release outstanding dues of Rs53 billion.
The second reminder on the part of provincial government was sent by Senior Sindh Minister for Finance Murad All Shah in a letter written to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday.
“Our total receipt from federal government during the current fiscal year remains Rs369.13 billion against the revised estimate of Rs423 billion, which means there is shortfall of Rs53 billion, which needs to be transferred by June 30 this year,” he said adding that if this amount is not transferred it will be evident that the FBR has failed to achieve even its re-revised target of Rs2,605 billion for the current year.
“Such a massive shortfall in transfer is putting our fiscal situation under severe strain, making it hard for us to meet our financial commitment. I hope that situation will improve and we will get better transfers from the federal government soon,” he said.
