KARACHI: The son of a Pasban-e-Pakistan leader went missing in Federal B Area on June 11.

Saad Moazzam, 24, owner of an online business, left his house on Thursday evening to attend a dars gathering at Madni Masjid near his house when he was allegedly kidnapped. An FIR was registered at the Samanabad police station against 'unidentified persons' and a petition has also been filed in the high court against the disappearance.

His father, Pasban general secretary Usman Moazzam, who was also a candidate in the by-polls in NA-246, has termed the disappearance of his son a 'political move'. "My party has been raising issues of illegal hydrants and land mafia and now we are being threatened and targeted like this," said Moazzam.

He claimed he was asked by friends and senior party leaders to arrange security for himself. "I am not the type of man who moves around with guards," he said.

He had also called Crime Investigation Department's Raja Umar Khattab, requesting him to look into the matter personally and had also written a letter to the Sindh Rangers for the safe recovery of his son. "The lockups were checked but Saad wasn't there," he said. The Sindh government has also been requested by the party to look into this matter but no action has been taken so far.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Pasban president Altaf Shakoor condemned the disappearance of Saad. "When MQM activists were killed we raised our voices against it," he said.

The party has been staging protests in cities across Sindh and had also arranged a protest at Karachi Press Club on Tuesday. Moazzam said his party will not stop their struggle against injustice.
