LAHORE:

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will export 8,000 skilled personnel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the course of this year, Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said on Thursday.

He was addressing Tevta officials after returning from a tour of the emirates. Shaikh said the initiative was being taken in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that emphasised the export of skilled personnel to the Middle East. He said the authority was setting up a one-window operation to facilitate Tevta graduates with regard to travelling arrangements and recruitment processes.

Shaikh said businesspeople from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al-Ain had evinced keen interest in hiring Pakistani manpower for their projects during his visit. He said businessmen from Dubai and Ajman had hailed the authority’s initiatives and held a fitting reception in honour of the visiting Tevta delegation.

The Tevta chairperson said Emirati businessmen had advised the authority to establish an office in the UAE to facilitate the placement of Pakistani manpower in the country. He said representatives of Emirati businessmen would visit Pakistan after Ramazan to present their demands on this account.

Shaikh said the authority would hold direct talks with Emirati businessmen for the placement of skilled personnel. Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, General Managers Hamid Ghani Anjum and Abdul Qayyum and Foreign Placement Consultant Amer Hasan were also present on the occasion.
