Police official shot dead in Bannu
Unidentified men intercepted the constable and his brother in Mamash Khel and opened fire at them
BANNU:
A constable of the Elite Force was shot dead in the jurisdiction of Cantonment police in Bannu district on Thursday.
The deceased’s brother Rehmatullah told the police he was en route with his brother when unidentified men intercepted them in Mamash Khel area and opened fire on them. The cop died on the spot while Rehmatullah and Huzaifa, an IDP from North Waziristan Agency, were injured in the attack. He said the deceased had no enmity with anyone.
The district has seen a spate of attacks on police officials in the past few days.
In another incident, the house of former Noraz nazim Rashidullah Khan was partially damaged when an explosive planted near it went off. Police and security officials reached the site following the explosion and conducted a search operation. However, no arrests were made. Cases of both incidents were registered. Further investigation is under way.
