Connectivity: PM briefed on Karachi-Lahore corridor

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the government has allocated historic funds in PSDP for the construction of highways and motorways across the country, showing an increase of 154% since 2013. Chairing a high level meeting on enhancement of rail and road connectivity at the PM House, he was briefed about Karachi Lahore Dedicated Freight Corridor and the interest expressed by some foreign investors in the project along with road connectivity between Gwadar and Tirmez which would connect Central Asia with warm waters through Gwadar Deep Sea Port. The prime minister was also updated on the status of ongoing motorway and expressway projects, including those that are part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The meeting was attended by Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Secretary Communications and DG FWO along with other senior government officials.
