University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences (UVAS) Vice Chancellor Talat Naseer Pasha on Tuesday stressed the need for strategic policy interventions and an enabling environment to enhance food supply and access to food.



The vice chancellor was speaking at a seminar on food safety. The UVAS Department of Meat Science and Technology and the Department of Dairy Technology had arranged the seminar in collaboration with Australia Awards Pakistan.

Muhammad Junaid, a speaker, said that public-private partnerships could make research and education services more effective. Jamal Nasir said that proper training of agricultural experts could help increase people’s access to food. “A well organised food assistance programme can help overcome poverty,” he said.
