Some unknown men planted the homemade device on the railway tracks, within the limits of Thull police station, and caused a loud explosion. The explosion injured at least two of the suspects but they were taken away by their accomplices.

When a large number of policemen reached the site, they found that a one-and-a-half-foot-long portion of the tracks was damaged. The blast site was cordoned off and the bomb disposal squad was summoned to check the site. According to the bomb disposal experts, the bomb was of local origin and weighed nearly five kilogrammes. It was triggered through a remote-controlled device.
Thull DSP Syed Asghar Shah assured that the repairs were completed and rail traffic has resumed. "We have followed the footprints of the terrorists and also found blood stains, which means that the terrorists were injured," he said. Shah added that they arrested some suspects but refused to disclose their identity.
