SUKKUR:

Six suspects were taken into custody on Sunday during police raids on a seminaries in Sukkur and its outskirts.

A large contingent of police and Rangers personnel raided religious seminaries in the city, combing their premises and detaining six suspects for investigation. These raids were reportedly conducted as part of an operation against terrorist activities across the country.

When contacted, an employee at Madrassa Ashrafia, Sukkur, confirmed a raid at the seminary though he declined to share his name. "The officials checked the rooms of the facility but did not find anything objectionable," he claimed. "Students come here to seek religious education and our doors, therefore, are open for the law enforcers to check any time they wish."

Sources in the police force confirmed, in the meantime, that six suspects had been detained and were under investigation.

Sukkur district intelligence bureau in-charge Saeed Qazi told The Express Tribune that they had visited various religious seminaries for routine checking. He admitted that they did not find anything objectionable but denied making any arrests.
