Backlog: 6,853 cases decided by LHC in 2 months

It has decided 1,521 old civil cases and 3,637 new civil cases in the said period

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) decided 6,853 pending cases in the last two weeks of May. According to public statistics, the LHC decided 380 old criminal cases (filed before January 1, 2012) and 1,315 new criminal cases (filed since January 1, 2012). It has decided 1,521 old civil cases and 3,637 new civil cases in the said period. After the institution of 7,091 new cases, the number of cases stands at 139,778 which include 32,032 criminal cases and 107,746 civil cases. In the first two weeks of May, the LHC had decided 7,957 cases. So, a total of 14,810 cases were decided in May 2015.
